Overview of Drip Tube

Drip tubing for irrigation systems is used in the delivery of water directly to the roots of plants. Specifically, drip tubing is made from polyethylene and has emitters that are placed at intervals along the tube. These emitters correspond with the placement of each plant. This ensures that water is delivered directly to each plant's root zone.

Product advantages

Ease of installation
Emitter tubing comes with pre-installed emitters, making it a plug-and-play system that's quick and easy to set up. In contrast, drip tubing requires you to manually add emitters or accessories, offering more customization but taking extra time to install.

Water distribution
Emitter tubing ensures uniform water delivery since emitters are evenly spaced and calibrated. Drip tubing, while flexible, requires more planning to achieve even distribution, as the water flow depends on where and how emitters are placed.

Flexibility and customization
Emitter tubing is less adaptable, with fixed emitter spacing that works well for uniform plantings. Drip tubing offers maximum flexibility, allowing you to add or adjust emitters and accessories based on your garden's specific watering needs.

Material

Polyethylene (PE/LDPE/LLDPE): The standard, go-to material for both 1/2-inch mainlines and 1/4-inch micro-tubing. It is highly durable, UV-resistant, and allows for direct insertion of emitters.

Vinyl (PVC): Primarily used for 1/4-inch micro-tubing, especially indoors or in greenhouses because of its superior flexibility. It is not recommended for long-term outdoor use due to poor UV resistance, which makes it brittle.

Two-Layer Polyethylene: Often used in professional applications, featuring a white outer layer to reflect heat (keeping water cooler) and a black inner layer to block light and prevent algae growth.

Rubber/Recycled Materials: Used for "soaker hoses," which are not considered true drip irrigation and are generally not recommended for pressurized, permanent systems.

FAQ

Q: What is a drip tube and how is it used?

A: A drip tube is a flexible irrigation pipe with built-in or external emitters, designed to deliver water directly to plant roots with minimal loss.

Q: What materials are your drip tubes made from?

A: Our drip tubes are manufactured from high-quality polyethylene (PE), offering excellent flexibility, UV resistance, and durability for outdoor use.

Q: What is the difference between drip tape and drip tube?

A: Drip tubes are thicker and more durable than drip tapes, making them suitable for long-term or permanent installations, especially in orchards and greenhouses.

Q: What diameters and wall thicknesses do you offer?

A: We provide a wide range of diameters (typically 12–20 mm) and wall thickness options to meet different pressure requirements and field conditions.

Q: Can I customize emitter spacing and flow rate?

A: Yes, emitter spacing and flow rates can be tailored to suit specific crops, soil types, and irrigation strategies.

Q: How do you ensure uniform water distribution?

A: Our drip tubes are engineered with precision emitters to maintain consistent flow rates along the entire length, even on uneven terrain.

Q: Are your drip tubes resistant to clogging?

A: Yes, we use advanced emitter designs with anti-clogging features and recommend proper filtration to ensure long-term performance.

Q: What is the working pressure range?

A: Our drip tubes typically operate within a pressure range of 0.8 to 4.0 bar, depending on the model and application.

Q: How long do drip tubes last?

A: With proper installation and maintenance, our drip tubes can last 5–10 years or longer, depending on environmental conditions.

Q: Can your drip tubes be used in greenhouse applications?

A: Absolutely. They are ideal for greenhouse irrigation, providing precise and controlled water delivery to support consistent plant growth.

Q: Are your products compatible with standard irrigation fittings?
